NetApp MultiStore Administration (NMA)
COURSE CONTENT
This highly focused 2-day course provides a detailed understanding of how to implement and administer NetApp MultiStore. NetApp MultiStore allows for the partitioning of a physical NetApp storage controller into multiple logical storage controllers. The virtual storage controllers (vFilers) may be used in enterprise or service provider environments to provide secure separation of tenant/department resources and management may be delegated on a per vFiler basis. Each vFiler unit may be authorized to serve over protocols such as CIFS, NFS and iSCSI and data protection and disaster recovery may also be implemented on a per vFiler basis. Upon completion of the course, the student will understand secure implementation, configuration and management of vFiler units.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
- This course is intended for storage administrators, implementers and engineers.
PREREQUISITES
Course attendees should possess an intermediate knowledge of NetApp storage and Data ONTAP.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, the student will understand product placement for NetApp MultiStore. Additionally, the student will understand the process for secure implementation of MultiStore and how various NetApp technologies integrate with MultiStore to enhance data management. Practical lab exercises augment and reinforce the courseware to provide a unified curriculum.
COMMENTS
Course Benefits
By taking this course, the participants will better understand NetApp MultiStore benefits, features and use cases. They will be able to describe the advantages and benefits of MultiStore in enterprise and service provider environments. Students will also understand the advantages of using NetApp MultiStore for data migration and disaster recovery.
The student will be able to explain the security architecture of MultiStore and how secure separation is achieved between tenants. They will also be able to describe how role based access control can be used to delegate administrative management of vFiler units. Additionally students will also learn about how NetApp technologies such as FlexClones, thin provisioning and Deduplication affect vFiler units.
Course Positioning
Many IT enterprises and service providers have the need to separate resources by application, tenant or department. Server hardware, networking equipment and storage my all be duplicated within the datacenter to support that separation. Virtualization is revolutionizing the data center at every level. Compute, networking and even storage. At the storage level that virtualization is created with NetApp MultiStore. MultiStore provides:
- Virtualized storage that meets and enhances the need for multiple security domains, departments or tenants
- Secure separation using MultiStore IP spaces with separate routing tables
- Mobility through the use of tools such as vFiler migrate and Data Motion
- A Highly-Available redundant architecture ensuring service levels for mission critical data
